" The only thing that is constant is
change"
There have been some major changes made
to the mission statement of the LVJBS. It
has always been our mission statement to.."Host
at least one jamband show a month - attended
and supported by the LVJBS members and friends."
It has become a situation where there are
not enough members and/or friends of the
society who are attending and volunteering
to help produce these shows to support them.
We would love to do all free shows and be
happy with breaking even on events, but
there are expenses which come along with
the shows despite the small volunteer staff
who produces them. We have many incidentals
like insurance costs, equipment up-keep
and repair, feeding and housing the bands
etc.
That being said.. the LVJBS members and
Board of Directors unanimously voted not
to do any more monthly shows. We are going
to only be hosting FOUR events this year.
Each event will be held along with the 4
seasons. One event each will be held in
Spring Summer, Fall, and Winter. We had
28 people at our monthly meeting agree to
paying this year's dues and to help with
putting on at least 1 of our 4 shows this
year. BTW...we have everyone's name from
attendance - so no backing out now !! We
are going to break down the group of 28
into 4 groups of 7 people. Each group will
be responsible for producing and presenting
their own show. Those 7 folks will decide
on what band they would like to have play
"their LVJBS event" and where
it is held. Greg will still be handling
the booking for the shows. If anyone who
was not at the meeting would like to join
up for 2005 and volunteer to help out with
a show this year - simply click
here to get in touch with Scott Conte
-- the new VP for the LVJBS for 2005. He
will put you in touch with one of the 4
groups of 7(or more) and their group leader.
The groups were preliminarily selected at
the LVJBS Jan. member meeting on Tuesday
Jan. 4th at Moondoggies West - (7:30 pm)
BTW...The LVJBS hosts their monthly meeting
the 1st Tuesday of the month - always at
Moondoggies West (located at the corner
of Rainbow & Oakey) - always at 7:30
pm.

HOST
YOUR OWN JAMBAND EVENT IN LAS VEGAS
(we'll help)
If any LVJBS member or members really want
to see their favorite jamband play Las Vegas
-- you are more than welcome to host the
show yourself. There had always been a standing
unwritten rule that a member of the LVJBS
would not bring in a jamband themselves
in order not to compete with our events.
Being we are only doing 4 events this year
- there really is no competition. You would
be responsible for securing the venue, payment
of the band, housing the band, supplying
meals and hospitality for band and crew,
providing professional sound and lights,
as well as staffing the event. The LVJBS
sound equipment would possibly be available
for a minimal rental fee. The stipulation
the LVJBS would have is that we would have
to approve of the folks who would be moving,
setting up and running the LVJBS' PA equipment.
Contact Greg in the Booking Dept. for assistance
in helping book the event. I'll ge glad
to help.
So there's the new direction we have taken.
